Can someone tell me what a half-bitrate DTS track is please? They're usually around 768kbps on DVDs, right? Is this normal or can you get them higher than this?

So can you not tell if you buy a DVD if its half-rate or not? Also, why do some DVDs have half-rate and some have full-rate?
