  1. I have a movie splited in 2 AVI parts, DIVX/divf // DIVX 4 Codec. When I play it (part 1 or 2, no matter what) in Windows Media PLayer or any other player it goes well. When I open it in VirtualDub (to join it) or in TMPGEnc (to try to Encode) the image is crappy, blocky, off-centered and miscolored.

GSpot indicates I have the codecs for it (and I really do, since it plays normally on any player).

Anyone have a single idea what I should do?

    Thanks in advance,

    Enigma.

VDub and TMPGEnc (by default) use VFW decoders for video decoding where as wmp, etc. use dshow decoders. Also GSpot just detects if there is a filter that can connect, not whether it can actually decode properly.

What dshow and VFW decoders are being used?

  5. Uninstall all your mpeg 4 codecs and reinstall only Divx or/and Xvid.

  6. I don't know what VFW and Dshow decoders are being used. How can I access this info? And do you have any suggestion of what to do? (decoders that I can download and use?)

Open the file in VirtualDub, under file information it will tell you what is being used to decode.

For dshow, any decent player will tell you, however if by windows media player you mean a newer version than 6.4 it won't. You could render it with graphedit or GSpot though to see what decoder is being used.
