In my opinion, SpruceUp is the way you want to go. However, regarding SVCD-ready MPEG2 files will always be rejected by SpruceUp, because the SVCD spec of 480 horizontal resolution is absolutely not allowed ... thus, not allowing this kind of "XDVD." SpruceUp also does not create SVCDs. To get your MPEG2 files onto 650/700 mb media, keep in mind you're still creating DVD content, so you have to stick to DVD specs.

For my miniDVD's/cDVD's, I use an MPEG2 file @ 23.976fps utilizing 3:2 pulldown, 352x480 resolution, 4:3 aspect (SpruceUp does not currently support 16:9 aspect) and 1 main audio track at 192- or 224kbps. If I use 2 audio tracks I encode the main audio track at 192kbps and the second audio track at 128kbps.

  4. For DVD authoring, try ReelDVD 2.5 or later software.
I have tested it once in a workshop. Itīs very good. Multiple subtitles, AC.3, animated menus are some of its features.
I donīt know where to download it for free. If you find a way, tell me, OK.
    Regards.

  5. I would stay away from SpruceUp. I have it and was trying to burn video cd's but found out it was never intended to
burn vcd's. In addition, SpruceUp was bought out by Apple
Computer this summer so the product line(and support) will
    probably go down the tubes.

SpruceUp is not and to my knowledge has never been a VCD authoring program.
