  1. Hello. I am converting my familiar VHS movies to DVD. After capture to MPEG2, I use TMPGenc DVD Author to build the DVDs with menus, and then use Nero to burn the DVD.
The problem is that none of the DVDs I have burt can be played in my Philips 703 player !! They are rejected without any message.
I have tryed with DVD-R, DVD+R and DVD-RW with same results.
However, the same DVDs work perfectly on my computer, and on my other DVD Player (a cheap chinese player).
Also: I have tryed copying a movie DVD (Shrek II) to a DVD-R, and worked perfectly on the Philips. So I have concluded that the problem is not with the media, but with the authoring process.
    Any help ?
    Thank you very much.

  4. For the past several days I have been in the process of making DVDs from Family Videos. I followed the guide for capturing with WINDV, via my camcorder I-Link (Firewire) and then I split the .avi file into smaller parts (if I have different events on one tape) using VirtualDub. I then encode with TMPGEnc

After the Encode is complete I then use TMPGEnc DVD Author for creating the menus.

I have not had any problems yet.

Have you read this guide: https://www.videohelp.com/guides.php?link=566

Good luck...I know it took me quite some time to complete my first DVD, but searching this forum really helped me out. Also remember that when encoding and capturing to disable any processes that you don't need to have running. I also disconnect my internet connection.
