  1. I converted a clip from DivX to DVD using WinAvi 6.2 and after the conversion the video was playing fine but there was no audio in the entire clip.

The strange thing is that now nothing has audio on my computer. I tried to play some mp3 music files that I was able to play before and now they don't have audio. I checked the speaker connection and everything looks right. The only change that I made before this started to happen was to install winAvi and I also installed the Real Alternative codec in my computer.

    Any inputs?

First up, it wouldn't surprise me if Real took over all your file associations. Do you still get the windows tones, like when you startup windows and things ? One thing you could try is to right-click on one of your MP3s, and go to Open With ... and then choose Windows Media Player, and see it your MP3 plays.

I wouldn't mind betting that your DivX AVI has either VBR MP3 or AC3 audio in it, which causes problems for even the best encoders, of which WinAVI is not one of IMO

GSpot or AVICodec will confirm what type of audio is in your file.

So while I guess there are two issues, they may both be related to the one thing - not getting any audio at all.
    If in doubt, Google it.
