That's a 13 to 15 hour drive depending on how you drive. that's all highway too, most of it in the middle of nowhere.... I-80 (New York to San Francisco) and part of I-90? I did that leg once but only part of the way through PA... I was at the Palladium in Detroit with my buddy who played in a band.Originally Posted by gastorgrab
It's about a 50 hour drive from one coast to the other all highway, take your pick. If you have the time I'd suggest Niagara Falls as Dr. Gee suggested, that's not really far. If your into Roller Coasters and thrill rides or have never been on one Cedar Point is right there.... Probably the best park in the world. www.cedarpoint.comOriginally Posted by Craig Tucker

Hello,
Yeah but I think Craig mentioned he was coming in March and Cedar Point doesn't open until Labor Day so I don't think that would work. Fun place thoughOriginally Posted by coalman

I still say Niagara Falls is the place you'll want to go to. Make sure you have US currency for Highway Tolls. Parts of I-90 are tollway, and some of the US/Canada bridges are Tolled. It's nice to have at least $50 in singles and $10 in quarters. You really only need about $15-$20 in singles, but there are strip clubs just past the border.
Good ones too.

Craig Tucker, unfortunately some U.S. cities are bad and Atlanta is another as bad as they say in the media.Originally Posted by Craig Tucker
Anyway, my father once did visit Detroit on business and he says a terrible filthy place to be. An industrial motor city
He was there only briefly and soon after a flight to Los Angeles for Sydney.
It is pretty cold there at this time of the year too.
I really don't know bad crime is in that city?
If you want to drive from NYC to Detroit and this would take you a long time to get there, all day and perhaps +12 hours.
I can remember traveling to Buffalo from NYC and the trip has taken me 8 hours to get there to see Niagara Falls.
Anyway in NYC, I experienced in areas outside of Manhattan as bad.
This is especially so on Brooklyn and the Bronx.

Detroit is a filth ridden shithole, yes. Lots of nice places in that state, but Motown ain't one of 'em.

There are many parts of Atlanta that aren't bad, but they seems to be more towards the suburban areas, like Alpharetta. Upstate NY is not a bad place to visit, but be warned. Buffalo is as every bit polluted as they say it is. It's tastes like pure exhaust when you breath in, and you cough out soot with the exhale. Yet the snow season hides it so well. Niagara Falls is great though. BEEEAUTIFUL! Nowhere else like it. If you get a chance to go to the Canadian side, park at the Casino and make sure you have some Canadian cash before you do. It's the best parking rates compared to parking anywhere outside of the Casino and easier to find a spot.

So how long a drive would Niagra be from Warren. ?
-
Still require a stayover then.
-
A bit, but it's really not that bad, unless there's snow. Bring a light coat (not a jacket) though as it will still be a bit cool. This is why I said see if you can spend 1 night. If you leave about 2 or 3PM the next day, you'll be back in the mid-late evening.

The view of the falls is much better from the Canadian side, and in January, hope for cold weather. The mist from the Horseshoe falls settles on everything creating a full-size "Glass-Menagerie".

I am sure you can find seedy parts of any major city over 300 years old, Can you say the majority of Detroit looks like that?
