I have two problems, I have an Xvid that is really jumpy and i can't get the subtitles to set into it, when I go to preview in Virtual Dub they don't show up. However I can watch the movie with the subtitles eventhough the picture is really jumpy. Is it the jumpiness a codec problem and how can I get the subtitles worked into the file?

Probably is a codec problem. Reload your codec and see what happens. What is the extension of the subtitle you're using, and how are you trying to get them onto your video?
