its my first time using advc-50 to capture clips of my wedding and i cant get it to capture from my camcorder (its hi-8)
i have the camcorder plugged in through the s video port on the advc-50 (i dont need audio) and it wont work.
i downloaded a trial of scenalyzer live and that captured it fine....sooo im assuming windows movie maker wont capture from advc-50.
is there any other FREE programs that i can use to capture? i need to sequence a few clips, add some audio and make a simple dvd in the next few days.....
PLEASE HELP!
thanks.

WinDV is one of the most popular free DV transfer programs. Then you can use Virtualdub (With the Pansonic codec) for editing. Encoding and authoring, check the 'Tools' list to the left.

ok actually i got windows movie maker to work.
the problem was that i was selecting "capture automatically" but since im going from hi8 tape through advc-50 i have to select "manual" and push play and then capture......the computer cant control the vcr functions i guess since its not true "dv capture"
hope this thread helps some folks out in the future.
