  1. Hi, I used MkvEGUI to try to separate the parts of my mkv file. The problem is that when the sound files got extracted, they were more than twice as long as the video file! Also, when I tried opening that mkv file with virtualdubmod, it says something about a variable bitrate. How can I extract a sound file that has the correct length from that mkv file?

Load the file into VDMod, Press NO when it asks you about the VBR, go STREAMS, select/highlight the audio track that you want and then press DEMUX.

Once demuxed (and you've checked its the correct length in time) THEN convert.

  4. Ok thanks. I did not use any other tool besides virtualdubmod to process that mkv file, but it still works. I am still a little paranoid with the warning sign that appears after I open the mkv file in virtualdubmod though (about the variable frame rate), but stripping the video, then the audio and then recombining the 2 affect the quality at all?

  5. Actually, I just tried this again for another file and it did not work. The file was from the same source, but when I treid to strip the video portion out of this mkv, its length changed (unlike the first file), and when I tried to extract the sound files, the progress box flashes for like half a second, and then says that it's done, but the audio file can't be played. So how can I fix this?

  6. I don't mean to be rude, but do I have to wait for a whole month before I get a reply? I'm sure other people are having the same problem as me, so can someone please reply?
