  1. Hi, recently i've been having problems copying discs. So far i've succesfully backed up about five dvds, but now seem to be having a problem. I've just waited about 3 hours for dvd shrink to finish analysing and decoding and start burning, and after a few minutes it stopped.
I know that the following error message is long, but i've pasted it all in so someone could tell me if there's a problem with shrink or my burning hardware/software.

I don't know if i've caused a problem because a few weeks ago I had dvdcloner2 and for some reason it wouldn't work so they told me to change my aspi drivers. Would that have something to do with it.
    Many thanks.

    Hello,

Do you get an error ripping with dvd decrypter??? If not use that to rip to an iso and use dvdshrink to open the iso off the harddrive

it looks like dvdshrink has done everything it needs to do, but is having trouble opening nero to burn, try using nero or another burning program manually and see what happens. and yes it does look like a problem with your aspi layer, try forceaspi http://www.afterdawn.com/software/cdr_software/cdr_tools/frcaspi.cfm

  4. Just use DVD Decrypter to burn as an ISO image instead.

get dvdshrink to output to an iso and burn with dvddecrypter, you need newish version of dvdshrink

  7. Try this:
    1.In DVDShrink->Edit->Preferences->File I/O...untick "Enable burning with Nero".
    2.Output to an ISO.
3.Burn with DVDDecrypter(select the .MDS file)
4.If that doesn't work rip with DVDDecrypter in File mode then open the files in DVDShrink.

BTW...Make sure you have the latest versions of DVDShrink and DVDDecrypter. If you are adventerous use Explorer search and find the Nero ASPI(wnaspi32.dll dated 06/2003) then save it to disc and delete.I deleted my Nero ASPI a long time ago with no problems.

Dont use iso mode since you are on win98,it can only handle 4 gig max files size.

The new version of DVDDecrypter will auto split, that's why you use the .MDS file.

My guide will let you rip, transcode, burn either a full DVD or movie only, using nothing but DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink

It has no problem with the FAT filesize problem, as it automatically splits the files in sizes Win98 can managae, as best of all it uses FREE software, and works everytime as this is the method I personally use

I don't touch Nero for burning DVD videos, I've had far to many problems and glitches with the final output, regardless of what media I use, and I refuse to buy the cheaper media

I personally put the problems down to the Nero burning engine, but trying to prove that would be akwarrd if not impossible to prove. Since using DVD Decrypter to burn, my problems have stopped, so thats good enough for me .......
