I have a JVC HRS9800U for playback when capturing, but now I've got a couple of PAL tapes to cap. I'm in the US. What should I use as a playback deck for those?
I would have put this in hardware but there isn't a vcr section![]()

just to make it clear, in case, i want to playback in PAL format and capture in PAL format.

If you are fond of JVC SVHS decks they make a Multisystem SVHS deck model number HR-S5980. It plays back the tape in whichever format it's recorded in. It does not however contain a TBC and Digital NR. It will require an adaptor to plug into a USA outlet. I purchased mine from this link:
