Something just occurred to me. As canadateck said, there's a 2 or 3 day waiting period before posting in the forums. Could it be that this waiting period is not long enough? If the waiting period was lengthened to, say, 10 days, that might weed out the quick fix-me-up newbies who are too impatient to do their own primary research. Anyhoo, it's a thought.

There is always an expert, wizened sage telling someone the "best" way to do something.
That best way usually consists of using the program they favor and learned on.
Expert, mod, newbie, we all shit in the woods when the bear chases us.

We just try to point out the most common ways to do it. There are a ton of ways to convert/capture/rip video.

I think it's more important to have a "RTFR" banner.

The REAL expert is the one who changes programs when a BETTER one comes along. One that requires less effort for better results.
I doubt the self professed experts here have tried EVERY piece of software or hardware in the whole wide world.
But they damn sure will say the one they use is the best, and their own method is the best.
Most of us just want something easy that works. Not someones favorite that the trained on since it first came out and they have shifted from since.

1. Why change something that works?
2. I never said my method is best.
3. It works for me and that is all that matters.
4. If you try it and don't like it, then that is fine. There are other ways to get things accomplished.
5. I walk away from this thread. I suggest you do the same b4 you make an even bigger idiot out of yourself.

If you want to help ..... DO. If you don't want to help because they aren't trying to learn ......DON'T. Why is THAT so hard for some of you to grasp?
If you are a true video pro and want to be treated as such, then CHARGE FOR YOUR ADVICE and leave the community FREE board to amatures. However, I suspect that if you COULD charge then you would be already. Try it! Set up shop like a real PRO does, set your prices for the wonderful advise you give and see if the "dummies" beat a path to your door with cash in hand.
Otherwise, you're just another dude who learned something a bit and has some useful experience to pass along to other dudes who haven't learned it yet. BIG DEAL!
Oh, btw, the help on this site is second to none! For those who DO help - many thanks. Jim and LS, you guys help as much as any here (daemon and a few others also) so thanks. I now better understand LS's very short replys are a good push in the right direction.

Oh good! A complain-about-the-experts thread.
Let's see, Fletcher Reed mode. Just off the top of my head, Bazooka has no sense of humor, Capmaster is a bullshit artist (note this was written BEFORE his recent revelation), Lordsmurf is a dick, Shadowmistress is a tease on an unprecedented scale, adam is a know-it-all, Northcat is a player, jimmalenko is a narc, yoda is a geek, Baldrick types with an accent ...
:P

I should have waited for April first, but on the other hand, someone would have been suspicious. Who pulls pranks in January?
