  1. Hi,

    I have a bunch of rmvb files which I would like to burn onto DVDs for playing in an ordinary DVD player. So I go to the usual route: TMPGEnc + RealAlternative. However some of them refuses to open in TMPGEnc. The error message I got was: "File <filename> can not open, or unsupported". All the files plays fine in Media Player Classic. So I decided to looking into the files a bit using AVIcodec. What I found is the following:

    Code:
    Filename V.codec name A.1 codec name
    001.rmvb           RealVideo 9             RealAudio 8,cook-11
    009.rmvb           RealVideo 9             RealAudio 8,cook-10
    040.rmvb           RealVideo 9             RealAudio 8,cook-21
    Only files with cook-21 can be accepted by TMPGEnc be converted no problem.

    TMPGEnc Version: 2.54.37.135
    K-Lite Mega Codec Pack 1.17

    Any idea what went wrong? How can I solve this problem? Thank you all very much in advance.

    P.S. Also no luck with WinAVI. The error I got was:
    "capture file(s)
    <filename>
    Information failing!
    No usable video stream, please make sure that the Media Player can correctly play both the video and audio of the file!"

    Have you tried using RealProducer to convert the audio to cook-21?

    Try decoding the audio to wav first with mplayer.
    mplayer.exe -ao pcm:file=output.wav -vo null -vc dummy input.rmvb
