  1. I have already extracted the .mpg out of some vcds i need to demux it into .mpv and .mpa in order to use it in dvd lap project.

Dvd lab's demux takes a whole lota time,i tried demuxing tha .mpg there and in over half an hour it was on 43%!

So what other methods have i got to demux .mpg files?Tried tmpenc but the video output is .m1v not .mpv which differs. Also tried virtual dub and virtual dub mod but couldn't find a demux option.

Also a cuple of other question:

A)Are .mpa and .mp2 the same?
B)Is the .mpv supposed to have the .mpg bitrate?EG 1100 ehile .mpa max 224?

.mp2 and .mpa are typically used interchangeably by software to represent mpeg1 audio layer II.

.m1v and .mpv are also typically interchangeble. If TMPGenc's demux is working for you, just use that and then rename the file extension to .mpv.

the mpv/m1v is the video stream. If this is a compliant VCD the bitrate should be 1100kbits. If its a svcd then the bitrate can vary. Same with the audio, VCD will be 224 and SVCD will vary.

  3. Well i am not sure if renaming .m1v to .mpv would be the right thing to do.But renaming the .mpa to .mp2 i guess it's ok.But dvd lab doesn't support .m1v.So what other chance have i got into demuxing an .mpg to .mpv and .mpa?

Like I said, they are the same thing. A demultiplexor is just going to separate the streams. Regardless of what file extension it uses by default, its still the same file. Rename the extension and I guarantee that it will work.

BeSweet would be faster, yes. Actually BeSweet is just a gui which uses SSRC.exe ( a standalone command line executable program) to do resampling (ie: 44100kHz->48kHz) and Toolame to do the encoding to mpeg audio. You can actually do the exact same thing using TMPGenc if you like. Look in the environmental options at the top. There is an option to use an external frequency rate converter and an external encoder. Just point these to the ssrc.exe and toolame.exe files and whenever you encode audio in TMPGenc it will use these instead. These files should already be in your BeSweet directory but you can download them separately view google very easily.

Also, there are other gui's for what BeSweet does. Maybe you'll prefer those.

As for encoding over a network, sorry I don't have any experience with that. Can you not just set the source as that file...regardless of where its located?

  9. In the eniviromental options in the audio tab you can choose an external encoder for mpeg1 audio layer 2 and 3 and sampling frequency converter. In which dhould i set ssrc and which too lame? And then what?Do i get too choose the frequency or does it do it automatically?

For audio layer II point it to toolame. For sampling frequency converter point it to ssrc.exe. You set the bitrate and sampling frequency of the output on the audio tab when you are in the Settings options.

  11. It worked nice and easily, one last question, what do the setting error protection, original flag, copyright flag and private g=flag do?Toggling anything of these will make better results?
