Shift Change: A Short Story -- Part IX

"Oooooh, man, Boss, I hope you got the number of that truck." The driver said.

"I mean. Looks like you came in third in a two-man hatchet fight." The passenger in front winced at the brutally beaten Defense.

"Shut up and just get me out of here." Defense grumbled, his head tilted back to try and stop his bloody nose.

"Sure, where you want to go?"

"The shop. You going to have any problem fixing this mess?"

"Naw. We found Tony around the corner with a broken nose and a face full of splinters. We'll say he killed Bruno after a fight."

"Good. Now, did you use your own names when you joined the forum?"

"Nope."

"Good, I had a trail of fools leading right back to me and I got several thousand dollars of plastic surgery coming because of it. I plan on shutting that sucker down for good this time, and I want no more f*ck ups"

"Yes, Boss, sure. How you gonna do that?"

"Let's just say Santy Claus has come and gone."

"The Santy worm?"

"Nope, just my own little version of it. The forum thought that's what it was, but I just slipped that sucker Baldrick a worm to get his password. Now that I have it, he's really going to know how sick a bitch I really am."

"'Scuse me?"

"Nothing, just thinking out loud. Now, when I make my move, PM the moderators on line as many times as you can. I want them too busy to be messing with my plan. While you're in there, watch out for that hootchie Ilsa. She's small, but she damn near killed Benny."

"Gotcha."

"This is fine, let me out here."

The back door opened, and Defense climbed out, and limped into a small indistinct house. The patrolman got back into passenger side and the police car silently drove off.

Although I've dropped some idea's Tommy's way I have just as much anticipation as the next guy in seeing how he weaves the intricate concepts of his tale.
