    Hello--
I got my dad the Sirius Receiver plus home docking station for Christmas. He lives in a suburb just East of the Chicago, by La Grange IL. Anyways, as I was helping him set it up the instructions say to put the antenna outside, clear of any blockages. We did that, however the reception is very spotty. He can turn on the unit and get good, clear reception for about 10-20 minutes, but after that it starts fading out until nothing at all, and the unit displays "acquiring signal". He will turn the unit off and let it sit, then turn it back on the the cycle repeats itself. Sirius customer service says the try positioning the antenna at different angles, which he did, same results. The manager of the Radio Shack we bought it from thinks the home docking station maybe overheating. Any suggestions here? Anybody have something similar happen? Thanks!

Sounds like a problem with the unit thing. Sirius has wandering Sats. so as long as your free from blockage you SHOULD be fine. The fact that it shuts off and repeats the cycle seems to indicate something is very wrong.

XM is better anyhow, go get one of those.

I don't know about XM being greater. Sirius has just posted 4x gain in subscribers to over 1 million, they have exclusively the NFL, Howard Stern, and some Eminem thing (which I think is crap but goes towards sustainability). Plus XM got at least a year head start on Sirius which goes a long way to explain the disparity in membership. I am curious though, why people prefer XM to Sirius. Thoughts?
