  1. Hi,

I'm looking for good software that can disable the copyright protection on a DVD upon inserting the disc. I was using "AnyDVD" for this, but I discovered this program was causing my DVDROMs to freeze randomly. Does anyone know any programs similar to AnyDVD or any that can rip individual scenes rather than long chapters?

    Thanks,
    Kristin

    Hello,

    Dvdshrink can.

Go into reauthor mode. Select just the main movie. Then go into the Start/end button and you can select just the amount you want - not just the chapter.

  3. Thanks, but I need to be able to save the output files as "avis," so I can edit them in Premiere. I like using DVD2AVI for ripping individual scenes, but it can't disable the copyright protection.

Rip using DVDDecrypter or Smart Ripper, or DVDShrink (I find this one less reliable - personal experience maybe?).

Find the VOB(s) with the scene(s) in you want. If you want the whole movie, rip to one big VOB file.

Load the relevant VOB(s) into VirtualDubMod (not to be confused with other flavours of VirtualDub).

Set the start and end frames to the specific section of film you want and save to AVI. Make sure that a DV codec is set to be used in the "Video" -> "Compression" settings.

If you don't have one, or the existing one doesn't work - try the Panasonic DV Codec.

I've recently done exactly what you want to do (also with Premiere) and it works beautifully.

If you're not sure on how to do the various bits with the tools mentioned, read up in the guides or look in the forums. Only when you get stuck, post back and we'll try to help.

    Hope that helps. Good luck...
