  1. This is my problem:
I use Smartripper to rip the DVD to Hard Drive and then i use DVD2AVI to split the audio and video and then TMPGenc to join for the MPG. My problem is that when i use the DVD2AVI it works sometimes by splitting the 2 files but then other times it wont have the audio. Is there something i am doing wrong ? I have used all the step by step instructions here at vcdhelp. Does this happen to some of you ? Is there a cure ? Need help plz.

    Xtreme,
The SmartRipper, DVD2AI & TMPGEnc path is a good way to produce Your VCD's or SVCD's. In DVD2AVI there are a couple of points to check when demuxing the ripped vobs. Make sure you set the audio for DolDig DECODE not Demux. Also check which track actually contains the correct audio stream and select that one, I think by default DVD2AVI chooses track one. Watch your vobs in PowerDVD or other to see which track has the correct audio language and choose that one in DVD2AVI. Hope that helps

  3. I occasionally come across a DVD which has no audio track ion the #1 position, but rather in 2 or 3. Once it was in 5!

  4. In DVD2AVI go to the track selection and choose Track 1, then go to Dolby Digital and MPEG Audio and make sure demux all tracks is ticked. You'll end up with ac3 files that represent all the audio tracks of the DVD (after you save the project). These can be converted to wav using the azid/lame GUI and azid (from http://www.doom9.org). If you don't want to use the azid route, then check decode, though I think DVD2AVI can only decode one or the other (i'm not too sure which one it can do).

Try Graphedit, it is a bit cumbersome to use but it has a wide array of options for demux.

  7. What you want to do is check the .ifo file that Smartripper pulls off of the DVD. Near the beginning, it will have a list of the streams in the VOBs and what they correspond to. The first stream is almost always the video, the second is generally the English audio, and other streams may be have other languages or subtitles. Make sure you select the track in DVD2AVI that corresponds to the audio you want.
