    Hello,
I sometimes use DVDshrink to edit and merge two discs (ie: two video streams) into a single project to run through DVDRebuilder at a later time. Problem is during playback, when one VTS ends, there is a distinct 'break' as the DVD player resets itself before going into the next VTS. This break also keeps you from rewinding past that point. I'd like to have a seamless merge of the two video streams into one, w/out the break in playback. Can I use Shrink for this, or do I have to go to another tool?

    Hello,

I think you have to reencode the whole project to merge without a break.

Check out some guides in the "how to" section on the left of the screen for tips.

Programs like tmpgenc can do it to a point (though you may have to reencode with something else for 5.1 movies - or ifoedit may do it but it's tricky).

I was wondering about that, since I already encoded the two titles. However I still have on my HD the original two VTS titles so I can start from scratch again.

I did find a method that uses VOBEdit and IFOEdit to do this 'seamless' merge, but I wonder if I can apply this method AFTER the encode, or can it only be successfully done prior to final encoding. Unless I hear otherwise I may just try it and see.

    I used jimmalenko's guide: http://members.dodo.net.au/~jimmalenko/test.htm
for merging VTS's using VOBEdit and IFOEdit, and it worked flawlessly.
And I found I could merge the encoded files, so no need to reencode, just burn.

By the way, kudos to jimmalenko's guide- it made it very easy even for a noob like me :P

DVD2One does a merge of two different DVD titles. So if you have a split disc like "Gone With The Wind" (not suggesting doing this one as it is VERY long and the compression quality would suck) it would take the main title in one and merge with the main title of disc 2 to have a new One title only movie.

    Hope that helps.
