    Hi,

    A while ago i needed to convert AVI to DVD.

    With the help of this forum i managed to devise a procedure that worked for me with the programs i had and enabled me to tweak the bits i need to tweak.

    The problem i now have is that i havent done one for ages and I am having difficulty follwoing my own instructions! and i am afraid my memory is really poor (and LOTS of other stuff job and family going on)

    Can anyone help? Please...

    My instructions are as follows

    AVI ---> TMPGEnc ----> MPG
    MPG ---> TMPGenc (File -> MPEG Tools -> De-Multiplex) ----> MPEG
    MPEG + Audio ---> IFOEdit (DVD Author -> Author New DVD -> Add Files) ---->DVD Files
    then thru DVD Shrink, Nero and DVD Decrypter onto DVD

    The second half DVD Shrink onwards I can remember and have detailed instructions for.

    Its the first half i am having difficulty with... i ahve done the first bit and got two files M2V and MP2....and dont now know what i need to do.

    Thanks in advance

    Hello,

    Here's a guide that might refresh your steps:

    https://www.videohelp.com/guides.php?link=697

    Also m2v is the video and mp2 is the audio for a reminder

    There are more avi to dvd guides in the "HOW TO" section on the left for a refresher course

    Kevin

    By the way - why are you using dvd shrink??? Once you get a dvd compatible mpeg2 file all you need to do is author it with a dvd authoring program like tmpgenc dvd author
    Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?

    I am very much of the school of thought of One Tool - One Job so i only use DVDDecryptor to burn DVD's and as such need DVD Shrink and Nero to produce the ISO.

    Thanks v much....helpful reminders....

    Basically you've done the first two steps in one

    According to your notes, you would have outputted an MPEG file using the System (video and audio) setting. Instead, you have outputted an M2V and a MP2 file using the ES (video and audio) setting.

    That's fine - all it means is that you have already done the MPG ---> TMPGenc (File -> MPEG Tools -> De-Multiplex) ----> MPEG step in combination with the AVI ---> TMPGEnc ----> MPG step (there is nothing wrong with doing it either way, I might add). Go straight to the IFOEdit step and you should be good to go
    If in doubt, Google it.
