    My friend has an avi file when she opens it in tmpgenc no audio is selected...i have put this same file on my computer and opened it with the same version of tmpgenc and the audio comes up and it converts fine....
    could someone please help..there is something obviously missing off her computer..i have checked the codecs and gspot says she has the right ones installed.

    It could turn out to be the order of the VFAPI plugins.
    You may have to experiment with changing the order of the OpenDML, AVI, and DirectShow readers to get it to read correctly.

    Does her TMPGEnc default to one of the "Video only" options? Just a guess...

    Thanks everyone for your time and effort...she gave up and ended up using a program called winmpeg...i have never heard of the prog before but it is working for her and thats all that matters
