  1. I recently purchased an I/O Magic 16X DVD writer at Staples. Yes, I did some research and found that two companies manufacture them: BTC and BenQ. Of course, BenQ has better reviews, but I ended up with the BTC model. So my question is - are the BTC 16X drives really as bad as their earlier drives? So far my testing the drive has been good. No coasters at all and even burned a cheapie Teon 8X at rated speed just fine. I've got a bunch of 4X anyway that I'll use first. Had no problem playing the test DVD on my Samsumg and Cyberhome players. I'm just worried about having trouble down the road. I've been using a SONY 4x for 2 years and it's still going strong. Just thought I would upgrade because I had a Xmas gift card from Staples. [grin]

Never a problem with BTC drives ...
... except for Taiyo Yuden media.

    Otherwise, flawless.

  4. Thanks Budz for the link. Seems like some people have been satisfied with it, but in general , the consense is that the BTC drive isn't that good. Guess I can use my 'gift card' to buy some more DVDs.

    Thanks guys
