  1. I've installed Serious Magic Ultra on my desktop to do my editing. Fast forward a few months and I installed the program on my laptop. The software throws an error that their site states means that I can't have the software on two computers....now this sounds a little fishy to me. The laptop isn't connected to the internet and the install dvd can't 'know' if I've installed the program on another computer....how can it know?

    That's a little contradictory....

  4. Let me back up for a moment. I got the error on the laptop and THEN looked it up on my connected desktop to see what the error meant. Hope that clears up the perceived contradictions.

  5. Perhaps there is an activation key or S/N that was tied to hardware when you initially registered. If so using a key or S/N that was originally generated for one system would not work on another and when the software compared the key against a Laptop generated hardware hash -- it realized that it was different hardware and gave the error.
