Hi there.
I am a newbie when it comes to burning movies so I can watch them on my DVD player.
I've a player that supports divx. But if I want to burn out and watch divx movies, do I've to burn them on a DVDr disc? Or can I burn them on a simple CDr? And if I can burn them on a DVDr disc, can I burn more then one movie on it?
I wonder the same thing about SVCD and similar movies.
Thanks!

If your player supports DIVX then you should be able to burn the cd-r as a data disc and the player will recognize the files.
As to the dvd question, I believe that you would have to author them for them to be playable ina standalone player. This would mean that you would have to encode to a dvd compliant mpeg2 file and then author the dvd with a program like Movie Maker or Sonic My DVD. -
SVCD must be burned to CD to be playable in a player that supports SVCD. It is possible to author an SVCD type mpeg file as a DVD but it would not be fully DVD compliant and would not be playable in many players. And yes, you can author as many as it takes to fill up the disk.
I believe divx is playable off of a DVD in most divx capable players, you should be able to fill the disk up with them and then select them from a list."Art is making something out of nothing and selling it." - Frank Zappa -
I authored svcd to dvd and it plays on at least 3 different dvd players 3 years older and up.
I think,therefore i am a hamster.
