I'm trying to burn a file onto my 4x DVD+RW and it's taking like 14 mins.
the file is 138MB the disc is 4x so what the hells going on? when i burn a 4.3 file it burns in about 20 mins

sounds like your dvd burner is in the PIO mode.
check this link if you're running XP, it tells you how to ENABLE DMA MODE.

it's the same for WINDOWS 98SE -
it doesnt have DMA. only for my DVD ROm it does
the burner was burning fine the other day at the speeds but was fluctuatating the buffers like crazy but didnt create a coaster but today its burning all slow... dont know wtf happened.
