  1. I was having no problems playing DVD Movies on this particular DVD Player until I bought Resident Evil:Apocalypse. It would suddenly stop
after the last movie trailer at the begining of the DVD. When I would
try to hit play it would say "protected content. It would do this nearly
all the times I would try to play it.

I tried another DVD, Tears of the Sun.It would stop after the Columbia Tri Star Logo.It would do this nearly all the times I would try to play it. Someone pointed out to me certain DVDs can tell that you are playing it
on a DVD Recorder and refuse to play. I'm wondering if this is true.

I ended up hoooking up a seperate DVD Player through a A/V switch
so I could use both units with out pulling A/V Cables.

What type of DVD media are you using? Shouldn't matter unless they're not the real McCoy?

Run a firmware update and do a factory reset afterwards.

LiteOn 5005 is a recorder. Player too, but a recorder. Something here makes no sense, not quite sure what it is yet.

  4. I bought Tears of the Sun from a used DVD store and Resident Evil: Apocalypse from Wal-Mart. I was told in another forum that some DVDs
you buy [Not blank DVDs] can tell if they are being played
in a DVD Recorder and refuse to play. I'm wondering if that is true or
    not ?

I have upgraded the firmware on the DVD-Recorder same problem exists.
I was told by LITEON tech that it should play all disks and I should return it since it doesn't. The DVDs I tried 99% work on the LITEON. Just these
two I purchased which play fine on a standard DVD Player.
