  1. I got a WinTV and for some reason I can't cap the audio to compress form in real time. I have to cap the audio to PCM fromat then process it afterward. all the guides tells me to cap with PCM then encode it later, which I don't wanna do. anyone able to cap with compress audio in realtime without a/v sync problem?

it seems like Win Media Encoder 7.1 is the only one that let me cap video and compress audio (WMA) in real time. it seems to be faster too.. (in similar a/v bitrate. I get 29.9fps in WME while vdub I only get around 20fps..)

I would rather cap my files to AVI with DivX then Windows Video tho

  2. try freevcr. overall its not as good as vdub but it does allow for realtime audio compression. some people report bugs but it all works for me.

the link in the tools section seems to be wrong. try this:

  3. I know you want to compress the audio realtime, but i would really advise against it, PCM doesn't take up that much space compared to video, and your better leaving your system dealing with video than having to worry about compressing the audio aswell.

  4. I use Win Media Encoder 7.1 and I was able to capture compressed audio with my Video with no problem. I use 64kbps audio and 352x240 vidoe res with several different bitrates. it works like a charm with no a/v sync problem.

the first time I tried it I was REALLY REALLY doubtful that would work out. I cap from DVD SOLDIER and VHS Planet of the Apes and it was perfectly sync audio/video!
(I recorded audio from my SBLive5.1 but the source is from VCR -> TV -> Snazzi PCI -> WinTV -> SBLive and the sync is perfect.. amazing isn't)

and my system is only a PII450.

btw: what is that thing about testing the sound card from for cap software?!
