  1. I have a divx avi which is reported by windows file properties as 25fps which plays fine as an avi, but after converting just the video part using tmpgenc express 3.0 (mv2 file output) the video seems to fast jerk. I used the standard PAL DVD and set to progressive and soften block noise.

NB. when loading the file, Tmpgenc reported it as 30fps, could someone confirm which I should take notice of. Also should I use VBR or CBR

    Thanks a lot

  2. Read up on PAL to NTSC conversion. In short, you split the video and audio, slow the 25 fps video down to 23.976, adjust the runtime of the audio, and put the two back together.

  3. Yes, I know how to do all that, but really wanted to know which reported fps I should take notice of, TMP or Windows properties. Thus I have tried it again using the 3:2 pulldown which has given better results.

  4. Tmpgenc changed the frame rate from 25 to 30 by duplicating every 5th frame. That's why the m2v file jerks. 3:2 pulldown won't work properly for a 25 fps source.
