Sometimes, oops is a painful word. In 1982, my doctor told me I had to have a cholecystectomy (gall-bladder removal). He gave me a choice of having it done right away or scheduling it later in the year. I gave him the go to do it right away. And while I was lounging around at home, recuperating from a surgery that left a foot-long scar across my abdomen, I channel surfed to a news report ... indicating that the AMA had just approved a procedure to perform the operation "through the navel," leaving no scar. Oops.
