Q: How to quiet down ignorant know-it-all-attitude experienced users.
A: Ban them.
It's one of those "what's good for the goose" things....
-
I've got no problems with Noobs. My problem lies mainly with morons and jerks, and there are a few vetrans and PW's that I've encountered every now and then that would fall in that category -- it's not just the noobs.
That also goes for sanctimonious wanna-be Mod piss-ants that can't take a joke and are always ready to read you a sermonette out of their little book of Forum Posting Virtues.
No prejudice here -- I give everyone the benefit of the doubt. I like to get to know someone before I give them a polite STFU !!
-
The most effective "STFU", etc., is to simply not respond to the offender's post. It's not that hard....

Cap --
Excellent. My eyebrows are starting to grow back in and I no longer have pink-eye!! I've moved on to painter's tape which has a lot less adhesive and given the fact that I film in Black and White (for artistic reasons), it really adds a nice touch with a unique grey tone.
I've even started using it instead of duct tape in my Bondage films, as it is now part of the PSAG requirements.
Thanks for asking !!

For the folks that get p.o.'ed with that, dont respond. I have went through the noob to experienced person and have went from generally being a helpfull person to "why the hell doesnt this moron know..." to just helping where I can (still cant resist clicking the "help" posts though), reporting people (without making a mod wannabe federal case out of it) that I believe have broken "rules", letting the mods decide what to do (still not to happy about the smoking thread being locked by the way).
The thing that I have come to realize is that noobs/experienced folks are going to make mistakes. Everyone, including YOU are going to make the exact mistake that you are going to hang someone else out to dry about. I'll bet that for each of the wanna be mods and such and those folks that just have to get the last word in no matter what so that the other board members think that their the fa-zizzle (sorry, new years resolution was to try to be more "hip", LOL) is all that.
But anyway, its like almost three and I am a total moron for staying up this late (for God's sake shadowmistress, tell everyone who the person is so I can go to be, LOL!!!

Ego killer - absorbs the Ego of other Ego boost hunters
personally I'm both Ego killer & Helpful as I detest the Ego boosters who prey on newbies, people who have no grammatical skills, people with inferior knowledge, people who just can't understand for whatever reason etc etc. Either pick on someone your own size here (I'm game), ignore the stupid thread or get out into the real world and stop hiding behind a monitor you pussies. I've come across a few here in my time (in fact quite a few sadly) but most have took a leaf outta my book, at least in one way or another, and respect to those guys 8)
I can laugh at the STFU post (good one jimmalenko) but I would never actually use it as I can normally kill or cool a thread with my own words. Whoever does has gotta be a 'wimp out' or can't think of anything to say if you have to resort to actually using it though
it's a shame the rules aren't more clear on exactly what they cover. It doesn't specifically say you can't be abusive, obscene, vulgar, slanderous, hateful, threatening, sexually-orientated to another member. It seems to give the impression that it is more towards breaking a law
General rules
You agree not to post any abusive, obscene, vulgar, slanderous, hateful, threatening, sexually-orientated or any other material that may violate any applicable laws. Doing so may lead to you being immediately and permanently banned
what is sad that some of the guys here have a vast knowledge which means they must have some level of intelligence yet behave like little kids sometimes. Another problem is that some here always like to read the negative vibe from another members post instead as if they are just looking for grief
don't get me wrong but I'm all for fun and games but not at the expense of someone who I may think is inferior to me. Even thinking someone is inferior is pointless in cyberspace nevermind even if you know them in 'person'. If you learn the art you can laugh and joke on without having to actually start a flame fest
I wonder how long before one of the members here snap (probably due to a lack of medication or 'real' sex with the opposite sex) and end up getting this thread locked?
anyone care to start a sweepstake?
p.s. did anyone notice I'm bored?

I did not want this thread to be misconstrued.
We were all new to working with video once, but some people are so concerned with the quick fix and ask questions like what is the best.
I did that in the title on purpose to show how ridiculous it is.
There are thousands of programs out on the market that will do what people want to do, but the very nature of the question is subjective.
When I started out, I lurked the site for almost two years and tried programs out for myself and made my own decisions.
I became a master at creating video and supervideocd's then I started ripping dvd's.
I can think for myself and think it is a travesty that most people lack the desire to try something for themselves and make their own decision.
Every computer setup is different and will yield different results. What may work for Joe Blow may not work for Billy Joe Jim Bob.
That was my point.
The best is what works for you.
