  1. I'm just fishing for thoughts on a few DVD-Rs that I recently burned that seem to have very high PIs and PIFs in KProbe. These are Ritek G04 DVD-Rs 4x that came from Amazon in a 25pk spindle. I'm using a LiteOn 811s with the latest firmware. All of the discs I am burning look like this, so it isn't an anomaly.

I'm not entirely sure how to get the graphs out of KProbe so the text results will have to do for now. Thanks for any ideas or advice...

  2. You have two potential problems so it is hard to say if you have one, the other, or both. First, G04s have had a very spotty reputation for the last 6 months and you are burning a- R on a drive that doesn't much care for them. Second, I have seen a number of reports of 811s not giving accurate Kprobe scans.

You need to see if someone else can run a scan on another type of drive to see if the results are right. If these burns play I would guess that the scan is wrong, especially if they play at a high fast forward speed. In general, you might want to avoid G04s and check out CDFreaks media test section to see what your 811 might like.

Kprobe has a little icon at the top right to save to disc. I think you can do so as well with a right click in the image area.
Still a few bugs in the system...

  3. The high PI reading is likely caused by your scan speed "max". It seems
to me that some of LiteOn drivers is very sensitive to the scan speed. I
have a LiteOn 812 and Plaxtor712 drivers. If I scan the same disks, the
plaxtor returns consistant reading for speed x1, x2, and x4. But my
LiteOn driver returns very different results with different speed. If I use
x1, the LiteOn reading is in the same range of my Plaxtor reading. If I use
x2, the LiteOn reading is at least 5 times than its reading using x1 (for
both total and avg.). If I use x4, the LiteOn reading is more than 10 times
worse than its reading using x1. The disk I used is TY x8 (+R). I also
tried other brand disks. They all behave similar on my LiteOn driver.
The LiteOn driver only returns good reading at x4 on commercial pressed
DVD disk. I guess some LiteOn drivers are not good in DVD reading at
    high speed.
