Hello everyone, i have ripped a few DVD with their menues and all, and i was hoping that maybe there is a way to fit 2 DVDs on one disk keeping the menues and extras and all. i was hoping to you know have the initial menu on the output disk have like one button for each movie, then after i click one button, the next menu would be the menu for the actual movie (play, extras, etc.). however, i want the second menu to be the same as on the originial disk, possible?? plus i was also hoping to keep movie qualitie at the highest possible. HAPPY POSTING!!

This has been raised at least 6 times in the last month, but I guess if you'd done a forum search, or browsed through the forums, you'd know this already

The consensus has always been that DVDRemake Pro is the only software that can do this.
    If in doubt, Google it.

Yes, you cam do it. DVD Remake Pro can do this out of the box. Check out the guides for it here https://www.videohelp.com/tools?tool=DVDReMake_Pro

Remember that trying to fit two movies onto a single sided, single layer DVD -/+R will require a lot of compression, and will compromise the quality substantially.

  4. If you don't care about quality, rip the vobs, and re-encode using the kdvd template for half D1, fit 8 full length movies on one dvdr.

No original menus, lots of work re-encoding every title ...

    DVDRemake Pro I say
    If in doubt, Google it.

thanks, so i can not have the original menus and the qualtiy will be lowered. will the quality become THAT bad, or like noticably less sharper, but still decent and wont take away too much from the veiwing satisfaction? thanks.

A quick realization of Disk size and Movie size would give you the answer. As cheap as media is these days, I would have to ask "Why"?

I think I said the same exact thing to someone who was promoting KDVD just yesterday.

  10. ive done it before by shrinking each movie on dvd shrink and then putting the already shrunk file in to be shrunk again that makes them small enough if u dont care about quality much

Let me ask you this ...

If you purchase a DVD and it's a DVD9, when you go to back it up, what do you do with it ?

    .. and there you are
    If in doubt, Google it.

No... jimmalenko, I think he meant he has 2 DVD 5 and wants to join 2 of those discs in 1 DVD which has 2 buttons for 2 those DVDs, and each button will link to the original DVD menu. By the way, I also think he knows how to use DVD Shrink to compress DVD 9 down to DVD 5 (that's why he said he has 2 full lenght DVD 5... no offense please!!!)

skip2mylou, I would say using DVD Remake Pro will do that job for you.... I, myself just made it couple days ago to join 2 DVDs with every features from original DVDs... But I had to make the NULL DVD with the designed menu as I wished by using SONIC MY DVD software (you can use NERO or any software included in your burner) then I just followed the guided from DVD Remake Pro site. Good luck! if you plan to do it...

  13. For whoever asked why you would do this:

I bought DVD Santa, so encoding these wedding videos I shot as DVD is a snap. Now all I want to do is have a menu to choose among them, or the slide shows (also by DVD Santa) . I may buy an authoring tool, but if DVD Remake Pro (I already own this) makes it easier, then it saves me time, and possibly money.

As far as backups go, I once backed up my 2-disc set of Shrek one with wide-screen movie only on one disc, and extras from the two discs merged into one (with menus - the movie button on the main menu from the wide screen disc would swithch to the main menu from the full screen disc, and vice versa). Wish the one-click feature was around back then, it took me 3 hours of editing, using a guide and a spreadsheet...

AFAIK you are spot on (and I concur ) , but the point I was trying to make was this:

If you do a full backup (as opposed to reauthor mode), then menus will stay.

That's the limitation of the trial version of DVDRemake Pro. You'll just have to buy it

i used DVDShrink to compress, however, when i removed the unused languages and subtitles, the estimated file sizes would not be accomodated onto one disk (example, one is to be 3,600 mb, and the other 2,800mb) so what do i do now to be able to accomodate them onto one disk?

Run it through DVDShrink again .... and again and again (if required).

Now you know why some people ask "Why ?"

How did you open the output from DVDRemake Pro ?

    Do it the same way

Go to File > Open (or click the Open Files button), and point DVDShrink to the folder that contains the output from DVDShrink the first time around. If you let DVDShrink create an ISO Image, then go to File > Open Disc Image isntead.
    If in doubt, Google it.

This can be done with a little effort on your part.
Learn to use IfoEdit and VobEdit, and then reencode the video streams as kdvd, or any other methods, if you prefer.
You'll easily fit 2+ movies with all menus and everything on one DVD.

Guess how I encoded my "Star Wars Trilogy" on one DVD

So true! Doesn't matter which way you decide to go, you're going to have to learn some fairly advanced stuff to get it the way you want it.

appreciate the help i have one question for jimmalenko however, i have compressed the DVDs to my desired size on DVDShrink, and i was wondering, instead of merging them, can't i just burn the 2 sets of VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS on one DVD. i will use NERO to burn them, so cant i just create a TITLE menu with it which have buttons for the different DVDs?

Use TDA and select "add dvd video" to input each disk as a seperate track.

So that gets accepted as one track, correct? Then select new track>add dvd video and input the second video_ts folder. You can then create your chapters and menus, although you can preserve the present chapter information from your dvd's.

dvdauthor.htm]This guide[/url] should help, even if it isn't exactly what you are looking for it should give you enough to accomplish your objective.
