I just added a new external drive with a firewire hookup. The firewire enclosure is recognized by windows in the system tray, but there is no drive shown anywhere. I changed the jumper from master to slave, but nothing else. I'm a bit lost.
Any advice would be very much appreciated. Thanks, and Happy New Year!!
The drive is a Seagate 160g and the case is a Bytecc ME-720.

Control Panel ---Administrative Tools ----Computer Management--Disk Management
You'll probably need to format the external drive. Right click on the Unpartitioned Space on the new drive and format it for whatever you want. -
put the jumper back as master too

I got it. Thanks for the help. I also hadn't run the Seagate disc utility to set up the drive. It works great now. Geez I am dumb at times!!
