  1. Sorry if this is a question that has been answered but... I simply am a tad bit lost My Goal is to burn these two files onto a DVD so that I can watch it on my home DVD player.

    I have 2 .wmv files (230mb & 40mb) that I converted using WinAVI.

I converted the first file (230mb) but WinAVI created 2 subfolders named VIDEO_0 & VIDEO_1 which now contan the numerous IFO, BUP & VOB files within.

I converted the second file (40mb) but WinAVI again Ctreated a subfolder named VIDEO_0 containing numerous IFO, BUP & VOB files.

Now, I am ASSUMING, I need these files in order to "Author" and burn onto a DVD and I do have various applications such as Nero, TMPGEnc, DVD Shirnk, VOB edit, IFO edit, etc. to accomplish this but this is where I am a tad lost.

Is there a guide on here that will give me a heads up on this process. I've read a few guides and a lot of posts but they simply don't seem give me a direction or they perhaps I am simply over thinking this process but I can't "do what I want to do." Can I get some advice on where to go from here?

Mark you need to select both files at the same time to get them both on the same dvd. Then select your output directory and DVD. Hit OK & let it convert. When it's done, open your output folder. You should have 2 More folders titled. VIDEO_TS & AUDIO_TS. (These folders will contain the .ifo, .bup & .vob files). You can burn these folders (or just the VIDEO_TS folder) as a data DVD and it should play on your DVD Player. Make sure you burn the AUDIO_TS & VIDEO_TS folder ONLY and NOT the output folder though.
Otherwise your player won't read the DVD.

Hope this helps & Happy Holidays!

You might just try adding the original wma files into NeroVision Express. There you can merge, create chapter stops and have a menu if you like. You can actually combine almost anything into one project. It's very easy, try it and see if the results suit your needs.

Ok, now I am even more lost. I did what you suggested, selected both filesUsing WinAVI and again, it created two different folders (VIDEO_0 & VIDEO_1) which I assume it did because it actually created larger files than what I started with... the original 2 .wmv files were only 230mb & 30mb. However, it did not create AUDIO_TS or a VIDEO_TS files, it simply created .ifo, .bup and.vob files totalling 5.00gig into VIDEO_0 and the created .ifo, .bup and.vob files totalling 596mb into VIDEO_0.

And then of course a DVD is only 4.7gig, obviously this would be too large. What am I doing wrong?

Is Nero VISION express different from just Nero Express? I did try and do this procedure in Nero Express, but of course, as my luck goes, it wouldn't let me. Are .wma and .wmv one in thhe same?

  6. Here is my two cents. First I would convert both .wmv files to avi files using the stoik video converter. Then I would use VirtualDub to put both avi files together into one avi. At the same time I would also use Virtualdub to make the resolutions of the video NTSC DVD Compliant. This means the resolution of your videos should be 720x480 pixels. If both videos have different resolutions, you will want to do this step first before putting the videos together. After you have one avi file that is at 720x480 resolution (I am assuming your in North America, if not make sure it is at the Pal resolution.) then convert it to a MPEG-2 file using TMPEGEnc. Once that is done, then use your favorite DVD authoring program to make your DVD.

Hmmm... that sounds like a plan.... I'll give it a shot and see what happens.

Import your first clip into TMPGEnce DVD Author by using the Add DVD Video button and load in the title out of the VIDEO_0 folder. Repeat the process, but this time point it to the title in the VIDEO_1 folder. Select your settings re: menus, chapters etc etc and output and burn. Job done. There's plenty of guides for using TMPGEnc DVD AUthor, just select it as the tool in the guides section. It also has a free 30 day fully functional trial period, and I recommend you check it out.
    If in doubt, Google it.

Nononono It should create AUDIO_TS & VIDEO_TS Folders not files. Inside the VIDEO_TS Folder there should be the .ifo, .bup & .vob Files. If it doesn't, put all the files in a folder named VIDEO_TS and burn it as data. Since the 5 Gig is too big, try the 596 MB one first. If that works, you can use DVDShrink to compress the other one to the 4.3GB limit.

    Good Luck!
