I dunno why I am having this problem, but it seem when I try to add a large file (300mb) it freeze for 3 mins then give a "Divided by 0" error. However, when I tried with a smaller file (<10mb) it runs fine....

Is there anything I can do to fix this??

I have a 1.8gHz cpu with 512 ram, and it passed the requirement for this software.

If this software is not good, what should I use?

    thanks.

    beserk1,

I am not sure what is causing the error but TMPGEnc DVD Author is very good authoring software. I routinely load files that are 1 - 7Gb in size with not issues at all. A 300mb file video file is considered to be a rather small file.

Is this a trial version? Have you tried to un-install and re-install? How much free hard drive space do you have? Is you computer running well?

    Just a few thoughts.

As I said before TDA is a solid stable software app. Read the reviews that are on this site.

I am assuming that you are loading a compliant mpeg file, is that correct?

    TDA only works with mpegs.

It is not a trial version, I havn't tried uninstalling and reinstalling yet, have about 10gb of space, and what do you mean by is my computer running well??

    compliant mpeg file??

sorry I dunno what you mean, but I tried both copying the .dat from vcd and ripping the .mpg using iso buster, both give me the same result.

Is your computer doing things as fast as it always has? Are you having any problems with running any other applications?

How often do you defrag the hard drive?

In order for a video file to be compatable with a DVD it needs to be an mpeg file. However, not all mpeg files are compatable with the making of a DVD. So a compliant mpeg file just means that the video file is in a format that is acceptable for DVD file structure.

    What I am driving at is this;

TMPGEnc DVD Author has been around for quite a while and is widely known to be stable. If you read the comment and reviews of this software I think you will find that to be the case.

With that said my opinion is that either there is something wrong with the file your are trying to put into TDA or there is something on your computer that is causing a conflict. File size has nothing to do with the problem.

I am not an expert on mpeg file structure but I do know that they can be corrupted and once they are most apps will not accept them.

Did you get the larger file from the exact same source as the small file?

Where did you get the larger file from? How was it captured?

    Yes and No

How often do you defrag the hard drive?
    Once a week

How can I know if my mpeg files are compatable with the making of the DVD? I thought all format are compatable, it is the player that makes the different

lol. I aren't saying is a bad software, I am just wondering why I am the only one that can't make this work

Did you get the larger file from the exact same source as the small file?
    Yes, same VCD disk

Where did you get the larger file from? How was it captured?
from the MPEGAV folder in the VCD, I am not sure what you meant by captured, but I tried copying the .dat file in the folder, and riping the .mpg file using Iso Buster. In both case, only the small file work and the larger one doesn't

p.s. Do you know any alternative software that I can try?

You could try Ulead Video Studio 8, I think they still offer a fully functional trial for 30 days. Download the trial and give it a go.

If you look in the 'Tools' section of this forum you can find lots of information and reviews on editing and authoring software. Most software can be tried for free before buying. Try a few and see which ones work.

    beserk1,

I have never done exactly what you are doing. I have created just a few vcds and I have never tried to take the video files from a burned vcd.

I have taken files from burned DVDs and converted them back to mpeg files. In fact I use TDA to do this. There are lots of guides on this site on how to work with .vob files from burned DVDs.

I would venture to say that there are guides on this site to do exactly what you are doing.

    hmmm, I see.

I did look for guides that do what I do. In fact, all of the stuff I have done that I have mentioned are all from that guide. However, I seem to be stuck on the add file part...
