hi I just bought a Pioneer A08XL DVD writer and it came with this "Ulead Burn. Now" software. I'm hoping to replace my old CD burner with this new drive. I use the old CD burner(Nero 5.5) to burn VCDs with the .CUE/.BIN files that DVD2SVCD created for me after converting a DVD movie to VCD.
but in "Ulead Burn. Now" I don't see any option inside the program to burn .BIN/.CUE files like Nero. How do I burn that ?
If "Ulead Burn. Now" software cannot burn .BIN/.CUE images, then how do I tell DVD2SVCD to create disc images or how do I manually convert the MPEGs(created by DVD2SVCD program) to a format that I can burn VCDs with using "Ulead Burn. Now" ?
thanks

Two options come quickly to mind.
1. Daemon Tools - Mount the CUE/BIN as a virtual drive and do a Disc-to-disc copy.
2. Go get one of the Freeware CD burning applications - even tho Nero 5.5 won't recognise your new drive you can usually get the Freebies to. Just install your favorite ASPI and your good to go.
XDuplicator - A GUI for CDRDAO.exe (command line app created to burn Cue/Bin)
Burnatonce - GUI for both CDRDAO and CDRTools
You shouldn't try converting from Cue-Bin to ISO with BinChuncker, it would probably destroy the structure.
I havn't tried this one yet;

(Looks like they havn't released anything yet) -
thanks for the suggestions.
I tried Daemon Tools before, I didn't think about using it that way.
I have also tried the free burning tools before.
But it's still much easier if I can convert the MPEG files created by DVD2SVCD directly into a format such as .ISO or .IXA/.IXB(Ulead format !!) instead of .BIN/CUE. The "Ulead Burn. Now" software will take the above three formats and burn a CD with it. is there a free tool out there that can create .ISO image from a MPEG(VCD) file ? (DVD2SVCD uses VCDImager or VCDXBuild to create the .BIN/CUE image files.) -
So why not continue using Nero? Unless you have a version that came bundled with your old drive that is locked to that manufacturer why change? If it's locked then Nero can be picked up for next to nothing at just about any computer shop. I can get it for £5 at the one down the street to me (literally) and that will translate to not very much in your currency, I'm sure.Originally Posted by fnd

I forgot to say that I tried plugging in the Pioneer DVD drive but the Nero 5.5 wouldn't allow me to use it(it recognized the drive though) because it came with my old Cendyne CD burner. I saw really cheap Nero on http://pricewatch.com for about US$4 but I thought these are the OEM versions which means they don't work if you didn't buy their drive ? What does it really mean ?
I guess I have to keep both the old Cenydne CD burner and the Pioneer DVD burner drive so I can continue to rip DVD with the Pioneer drive and then convert them to VCDs and use Nero to burn it with Cendyne drive. What a mess ! I was hoping to free up the slot for another 80Gb HD.
Or I have to figure out how to do what gastorgrab suggested about mounting the .CUE/BIN file as a virtual drive and do a disk copy.
So no one out there knows how to burn VCDs with Ulead software using MPEG files created by DVD2SVCD ?
Thanks for the info on ISO images. Didn't know that ISO is not for making VCD formats.
