  1. My first post - please be gentle ! Also, I'm not sure which category to post in as it matches several.

I've just bought a Canopus Storm 2 Pro/Adobe suite etc. No matter which of the supplied tools I use to cap (DV Capture; MPEG Capture for Storm; Edius; Premiere Pro) then there is no preview before or during capping. Depending on which app, the video is recorded/encoded okay in all cases and device control on the camera works fine - just no preview. This is true whether I use the connections on the Storm Bay or the connections on the Storm card itself .. and also true for the analogue connections as well as the DV. The indicator lights on the Storm Bay also do what is expected.
I have a reasonable PC (P4 3.0G, 1MB PC4200, Geforce 6800 PCI-E, Abit AA8 Duramax mobo) and so power is not the issue. Also, if I connect the DV cable to the on-board 1394 port of the mobo then Premiere Pro works fine with preview as expected. Strangely, the analogue output ports of the Storm Bay work fine and give a perfct preview if hooked up to a monitor.

I do not know where to find the answer - it may be a graphics card clash with Canopus DV capture but I'm not at all knowledgeable on these things. I've searched and cannot find any reference to anything similar, especially with PCI-E being fairly new. The system is in good shape with latest drivers and Direct X 9.0c etc. I can get no answer from Canopus and my mail for support is in their '3 day response time' promise !!
    Hoping someone can help.
    Cheers

  2. Why don't you post at the Canopus site where more people might be able to help with your particular product.

  4. If your system is running windows XP SP2, use the 1394 drivers from SP1. The is another forum topic about this. I had the same problem, no preview and lockups when playing back thru the firewire port. After changing the drivers, everything worked fine.

Here's a link to the thread and the files.... Doubt it's going to work for this issue though.
