all of a sudden some desktop icons have appeared on my pc. don't know where they have come from but I can't get rid of them. i have tried dragging them to recycle bin but they don't move. I have right clicked them but again nothing. They are for, travel, bingo, poker, ink cartridges, casino, card games, website hosting. I have tried rebooting to no avail. My son put a pc game on the other day, farcry dvd-rom, not sure if that has anything to do with it, but I can't see that. Any ideas how to get rid of them please?

    Cheers

    Hello,

Try installing ADAWARE. You can get if from www.download.com (part of cnet).

That can help remove spyware and other nuisances

Sounds like spyware/malware. Get some good (free) spyware apps such as Adaware and Spybot Search & Destroy.

    Google for the sites.

EDIT: Damn your fast fingers yoda!

You might try Spybot S&D. It's freeware and can eliminate and block trojans and other spyware. Threre are other programs that can do this also.

Try rebooting in safe mode and then try to delete.

This reminds me of a practical joke I played on my son. I took a screen capture of his desktop and made the image his new desktop. I then placed all of his desktop icons in a floder. Needless to say none of what he thought were desktop icons did anything.

    1) look in your startup folder for unknown programes
    2) do a search for new folders or files that are not needed or wanted
    3) try doing a system restore
Big Government is Big Business.. just without a product and at twice the price... after all if the opposite of pro is con then wouldn’t the opposite of progress be congress?

Ditch the PC and get a real computer.
