I'm pretty sure the answers to these questions are "no", but I thought I'd ask other HD04 owners just to be sure.

    1. Can you record to the HD in HQ and copy to a DVD at reduced (SP) quality?

    2. If you're using "Time Slip" and decide you want to keep what you've been watching, record it to the HD. (I ask because my Dish 508 PVR can "Time slip" up to one hour, and if you decide you want to keep what you've just watched you can rewind and hit record and it's saved to the HD).

    3. Is there any warning in record mode when you're nearing the end of a disc's capacity (like "2 mins remaining"), or does it just stop? I already know that if you're recording to the HD it'll just keep recording and you have to split the file later.

    Thanks.

    Hi Leebo,

    1. I'm afraid once in HQ, always in HQ. The only way would be to record on a +RW and playback on another deck to the iLO in SP, or load the content onto your computer and re-record a disc...but I'm not even sure about that. I'm on my second cup of coffee and I think I'm speaking out of my head. LOL

    2. Time slip cannot be saved.

    3. I haven't seen any warning, but then I record mostly to hard drive. With the firmware bugs it can stop anytime with no reason. <g> There is new firmware announced for Januanry 5th. If it doesn't work, mine's going back to Wally World. It's not quite ready for prime time. (IMHO) And, believe me...I've given them every chance in the world.

Thanks for the answers. Sorry to hear about the bugs though. I've hardly used mine due to lack of free time.
Whats the deal on returning it? I read somewhere 90 days? I thought it was 30 and I was out of time. If it's 90 days I'll do more testing and if I experience the bugs, I'll return it.
