Hello.
There is someone who know how to decrease the DVD convert option in mainconcept tool (make a lower quality or something else...) that the MPG file Target will not be large by 10 proper than the Source file ?
Thanx.

From what you have written I don't have enough info to know what you are trying to do.
look here for a guide to encoding a file with main concept written by lord smurf.

I think you want to reduce the filesize in the finished dvd, not increase it's size by 10 times.
If I'm right, just decrease the minimum, maximum, and average bitrate to what you want, or set it to CBR (instead of VBR), and reduce bitrate to any number you like.
Beware the quality will suffer greatly if you reduce it to less than about 4000. 2500 is SVCD, 1150 is VCD, so you might want to consider encoding that way instead, then burning multiple (S)VCD to one dvdr.Cheers, Jim

Let me guess - you have a movie you downloaded as xvid/divx at 700mb, and after encoding it is 6gb ? Welcome to the wonderful world of video compression.
In Mainconcept, try using 2-Pass VBR, min 0, average 6000 max 8400. 90 minutes should fit on a single sided, single layer DVD.Read my blog here.

I am having a similar problem with Mainconcept and Divx/Xvid files. When I try to convert them to mpeg2 ready for authoring the file size exceeds the size of my dvd-r's. I have tried the suggestions mentioned here and yet the file size remains unaltered.
How do I resolve this please so as my files will fit on a single dvd-r ?
Thanks. -
reduce the bitrate
use https://www.videohelp.com/calc"Each problem that I solved became a rule which served afterwards to solve other problems." - Rene Descartes (1596-1650) -
then you didnt do it right - bitrate will change the file size

it is the avg one that is importaint in this case

Ok, thanks for the tips. I think I have cracked it now. I changed the audio to level 2 from LPCM and that dropped it a hell of a lot. I then changed the average bitrate to the one that the bitrate calculator gave me (5931) but that didn't change the size by much.
I then dropped it to just below the size that the calculator said (5900) and this dropped the file size to 4.3g. -
Conversion worked so thanks for the advice. Only thing is it looks squashed. It was a 2.35:1 source and I tried both the 4:3 and 16:9 settings but they just don't look right.
What am I doing wrong ?
Thanks again. -
There were no bars at the top and bottom, it was like the image had been stretched vertically.
-
It has been trimmed down to the image, which would be OK if it had been 16:9 to begin with. 2.35 is much narrower than 16:9 (which is approx. 1.778), so it will stretch, even on a widescreen TV. The only way around this is to add the balck bars to fill out the frame to legal resolution, then encode.
We would have to know the resolution of your avi, and the resolution you want to encode at (e.g. D1, Half-D1 etc) to tell you more.Read my blog here.

MC has this feature built in -- btw

i think those numbers may be a tad off
