  1. I just wanted to ask, if I am using no compression and decide to spread my back up across 2 disks, will the quality differ from software to software. I used to use DVDshrink 3.2, but now I am using DVD decryptor and DVD Clone 2. I am only doing this because DVD clone2 alows me to do Menues and Main Movie without extras. I also switched because after reading a lot of reviews, Shrink seem to always place dead last regardless of price, since it's free. But a lot of the reviews were using an old version of shrink, without deep analysis. So I wonder if results would be different now. To tell you the truth, I honestly don't see any differences when I do compress a movie with shrink or dvdclone. I just like the fact that clone does menues without hassles and without making the extras a still picture (that still uses up a lot of space when the extras are big) the way shrink does. But if I am not compressing, would all software pretty much yield same results, since it would be a one to once copy. I am under the impression that the compression technology used is what seperates the various softwares for video quality.

    YES

Since all your doing is a bit for bit backup but splitting it the program to do it is irrelevant. All that its doing then is decrypting and splitting it. The compression is different per program when you try to fit it to one disc.

EDIT - It's the same if you simply ripped the full disc and left if untouched on the pc. You'll be watching essentially the same thing as the real disc. But once you compress it or change the format you introduce a certain amount of degradation. But if you simply cut it in half without compression it doesn't matter what you use to do it
Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?

  3. Some programs split better than others. Last I checked you have to manually split discs using DVD Shrink.

Other programs offer a one click "Split Disc" feature.

That's the only difference that I can see.
