  2. i prefer using tmpeg to convert an avi to mpeg. there you an choose what kind of mpeg you want to convert to, svcd, vcd, mpeg1, mpeg 2, etc.

  3. In virtualdub (i use 1.4c) just open the video file, do properties and it'll have a whole list of stuff. Compare this to a list of real VCD properties which can be found any number of places (there are 2 types, PAL and NTSC) including on this site somewhere I think.

Failing that, in nero go to new video CD, drag and drop the file, and it will tell you if it is compliant, and if not, why not.

  4. Is tmpeg is freeware, how fast it is and what about the quality? I have 2 GB avi file which I am planning to convert to mpeg compliant VCD and burn it with nero.

  5. hey man just load the avi file into tmpegenc 12a where it says video source.. you only need to load the audio seperately if it IS seperate.. but in your case it isnt so just load the avi. then load the default vcd template. then save you should be fine.. nero works great to burn vcd although im not sure exactly how to do this i have heard nothing but great things about nero. hope this helps.

    New Question --

This tmpeg is some good freeware, but I do have a minor audio problem. After I have used tmpeg to encod my movie with either the VCD or SVCD template my new video file has a crackle in the sound anytime some talks loud in the video. Does anyone know what this is are how to fix it? Should I play with the settings in TMPEG?
