    I have a cheap DVD/VHS combo for the kids that has recently stopped playing DVDs. It will play CDs fine, but anytime I try to load a DVD or DVD-R, it returns a "Disc Error" message.

    Is there anything I can do other than buy another DVD player?

    You can clean it with one of the CD Cleaners. Or you can open the player up and clean the laser. Do a search on the forums for cleaning dirty laser.
