What happens when you have neither of those options? For example, you're 10 years old and four 16 year old guys come up to you who know where you live and want to beat the crap out of you. What do you do then?

I'm not a real believer in violence, i would do nothing. if i punch them i will get punched back twice as hard. instead, every time they knock me down i stand back up. me refusing to hit them back upsets them far more than any punch i could deliver.

Standing back up will gain their respect to a degree. But you're showing fear and weakness by not willing to prevent harm to yourself.
This shows lack of self respect. This will make them punch you harder anyway.

Well i disagree. i was set upon by a group of four a few years back. that was the method i chose, and it really pissed them off. they were all shouting "******* punch me!!" but i wouldn't. after they realised i wouldn't bite they just pissed off. sure i was bloodied and bruised, but they never bothered me again.

If confronted by 6 drunk thugs wanting to gangbang you i think the appropriate action is to tell the largest guy that you want him bad, get on your knees, start sucking his dick and then bite it off. if you're paticularly vindictive, swallow it too. don't think his mates will want to go near you after that...

Give the kid a pen sized maglite, tell him to attach it to his key chain and take it everywhere with him.

If anyone tries to attack him tell him to grip it in his hand and aim for their temple. Before he does that though get him to pretend he's gone crazy so they aren't expecting it.

I'm going to disagree with you Flan. I have beat up a guy who wouldn't fight back, and an ass whoppin he did take. But I should also add, that I was not picking on him, he was picking on someone else, I said something about it, he told me to STFU and mind my own F-ing business and if I had a problem with it, to do something about it. So I did. Once I got up and got over there he said "I was just messing with him, I'm not going to fight you over it, relax buddy." and that my friend Flan was a serious flaw in his judgement, for had he said that before I had gotten up and walked over there I would have just let it go, but once I decided to get up and walk over there, there was going to be a fight, whether he wanted there to be or not. I know situationally different but it did not, and has not bothered me one bit to pound that ****** while he stood defenseless. I think that is where my concious is suppose to come in and tell me that was wrong, but I gagged that ****** and stuck him with Jason long ago because he wouldn't STFU. Stupid do-good-er concious

From what I was reading, it appeared that you (or whoever the poster was - too lazy to look back at them) was saying to do not stand up to the bully. IF that was your intent, then yes it was directed at you. if it wasnt. then it wasnt directed at you.

If it were me, knowing I'd be in the hospital the next day anyway, I'm making sure that I take the first shot. I'm going ballistic on their asses and taking no prisoners. At that point, I have nothing to lose.
You'd be surprised at how quickly you gain respect when you show no fear.

This is something that amazes me about a lot of people. While in the safety of their own home and "out" of harm's way, people can make very rational decisions. Have you ever been in that scenario? If you have and that was the outcome, great. Most people do not act that way when the poo hits the fan. The human condition is a very interesting thing. Everyone likes to think that if "something" were to happen to their family, they would "jump in front of the bullet". Be surprised how many dont., but anyway.

@ shawdowmistress - hope my earlier and this post does not offend you (sounds like the earlier one did). It isnt and wasnt meant to. I dont write in these forums to "prove" anything...

You tell him to go talk to his parents for advice. You tell him that if you were in his position this is what you would do, but you are not responsible for what he does. Tell him his parents are responsible for raising such a wussy, and that they deserve to get their a**es whooped in the place of their kid for going so soft on him.

Of course I would advise to reword it to the kid so as not to offend.
