  1. I recently purchased a standalone DVD burner, which I use to create DVD's from my home videos. For some reason, it will not allow me to create a DVD with no menus that automatically plays the video. Instead, it creates a menu with two choices-- the video itself, and "empty title."

This looks fairly bad, so I thought I'd use my PC to edit out the menu and re-burn the DVD. This has proven a bit more difficult than I had hoped. While I know I can de-multiplex the vobs and then re-author the disc, this takes forever.

Is there any quick way to strip out the menu and make the disc autoplay the movie? I tried ripping the vobs using them to author a new disc with DVD-Lab, but it insists on de-multiplexing and then multiplexing them when it comes time to compile the DVD. Again, this takes forever. Is there a better way to do this?

  3. I hadn't thought of that... I guess I have a habit of thinking that DVD Shrink is only good for, well... shrinking...

Thanks for the tip-- I'll see how that works.

DVDShrink in reauthor mode is IMO the quickest and probably the easiest way.

If you want an alternative (why I don't know, because you can I guess?), rip just the main movie VOBs (probably VTS_01_1.VOB -> VTS_01_5.VOB maybe?) to you hard drive then use IFOEdit to recreate the IFOs and BUPs so that the main movie plays automatically on insert.

Just as an alternative method ...
    If in doubt, Google it.

  5. I just tried the DVD Shrink procedure-- it works flawlessly, and in less than 10 minutes per disc. Thanks again-- now I won't have to stay up past 2am for the second night in a row working on this project...

As for the alternative method, I may try that just for fun sometime...
