I'm getting ready to upgrade my drives and switch some things around. I have two SATA drives, and am getting two Western Digital Raptors. I want move one drive to my IDE bus just for storage, but don't want to really buy a new one unless I have to. Do these converter cables work fine? Anyone have any input for me? It'd be a hell of a lot cheaper.

There's no difference in speeds between IDE and SATA drives yet, only on those with faster rotational speeds or NCQ (on SATA2 hardware). Heck we probably aren't seeing the full potential of ATA/133.
What may be cheaper is getting a SATA controller (are those considered HBAs?), plugging the two old SATA drives into that, and running your Raptors off the motherboard controller. Cost must be pretty close and then you'd free up the clutter of having adapters and IDE cables filling up space.FB-DIMM are the real cause of global warming -

Great guys, thanks.
150Mb/sec to 133Mb sec for a storage drive. I doubt it would affect me too much putting music and Mpeg2 files on there. I don't plan on operating from the drive.
