Don't know how many, but I can honestly say it's very rare that I even look at those subject headings....I'll mostly scroll under them before I start looking at the Topics.

The more there are the more I ignore 'em


I do notice Baldrick's stickies that are highlighted in different colors and the ones that have large-sized text, like in the (S)VCD Authoring forum - that works!


Most of the OT Stickies really shouldn't be Stickies, IMO...and they tend to lose relevance once they turn into chat (and that's exactly what those all quickly turned into)

I think that's what discourages people from reading them in the first place.

In all fairness though, OT's a little different to all the other forums, and every topic is a free-for-all chat session after the first 3 posts are on-topic

But...I think the Stickies might be more useful if they were the actual sticky only and all followups should be within the forum instead.

Probably wouldn't work, but just an idea.

The ones that are several pages long can be very intimidating if you're just starting to read that topic

True. I tend to agree. Maybe you could just have the gist of the info in the sticky and lock it off, but provide a link to a forum thread which could be used for further discussion. It would certainly make it easier for NOOBs to just go to the sticky, get the common information they require straight up and not have to sift through the BS.
