I have been using Firefox 1.0 and its been working great, but lately I have noticed that every once in awhile when I try to log into my gmail account firefox will just quit. This is only a small portion of the time, usually when I log into gmail its fine. Any ideas what this is? Has anyone had a similar problem?

This has just been once in a blue moon for me... and only on windows, not linuxNo
I have been able to login with no problems. -
It happens to me also. They supposedly (they being gmail) fixed the problem but I get it sometimes still.

Alright, someone else with the same problem. You are using firefox too, right? I wonder if its something to do with their windows port, since like I said I haven't had any problems in linux. It happens to me also. They supposedly (they being gmail) fixed the problem but I get it sometimes still.

This is really getting bad, this happened to me 5 times today! It only seems to happen when I have other tabs open... hmmm. I noticed something before it quit about cookies, so I went in and made an exception to allow all cookies from http://gmail.google.com, maybe that will work.

Found out another thing, Firefox quits when I try to go to www.pizzahut.com and register. And it seems to happen about every other time that I try to log in to gmail on windows, but not on linux. Do you think this could be a virus? I'm running spybot, adaware, and avast as we speak...

I've used it there before. You might want to uninstall... manually remove the hidden dirs and reinstall. Also try turning off some extentions.Originally Posted by Garibaldi

How do I delete the hidden dirs? I removed the extension I don't use, including the Gmail extension, maybe that's the problem, that would make sense too since I don't have that extension installed on linux.I've used it there before. One more gmail thing I noticed, I tried sending an email and it took forever and said that the server couldn't send the email, try again later. I waited a few minutes and tried again and it went through. I doubt this is related but I thought I mention it.

I am having Gmail problems at the moment.Originally Posted by Garibaldi
Everytime I try to login is 'Server Error' all the time since Xmas Day.
I can't access email on two addresses and I can't even send any message to the server either.
It isn't just on firefox, on any browser, on any computer I can't access it.
It does seem as though cookie related as I can see it reading cookies before bom, 'Server Error'.
I am behind a firewall too as this was mentioned, 3rd party security may restrict access and problems too.
I did contact Gmail to complain and not a word yet.
Not all accounts as affected and only addresses having 'john' as the problems.
Looks as though I will need delete the accounts by NYE.

Do you think this is some problem with windows? Like I said I haven't had this issue on linux yet. Maybe if you wanted you try downloading the Slax Linux Live-cd www.slax.org and see if you can log in on that. The "server" error message may indicate google is having problems, maybe their having trouble recovering from the santy virus.I am having Gmail problems at the moment.

It is now resolved by Gmail as they just emailed me.Originally Posted by Garibaldi
This confirms as server problems in mailing and I think there is some kind of worm or virus going around on the Internet causing this.
I thought heard news recently to do with Google and Yahoo being invaded by something on their servers.
My PC is fine and not the problem though.I am a computer and movie addict -
Thanks for telling me, hopefully now I won't have the problem again. It makes sense that there was a virus or something on their server. It is now resolved by Gmail as they just emailed me.

I just tried out the Gmail addresses again as a webmail and back to 'server error'Originally Posted by Garibaldi
No success since Xmas Day as so frustrating.
I have deleted the two accounts with the 'john' as the problems, all the others are fine.
It didn't work and always can get another free Gmail address.
I just done a new one to replace them.

Everytime i go to Gmail it keeps refreshing by itself, in firefox only. I can see my emails for a sec. but then it automatically refreshes!

I've got another update on this problem, when firefox quits when trying to log in the url shows something like gmail.google.com/CheckCookies&FLJDJIOEJGBDFLKJD. Maybe I should try enabeling all cookies from google or something. I wonder if this is cookie related?
