I use Mpeg Video Wizard to cut out commercials from video captured from a DVD recorder.
Up until today it never reencoded any of the video, but for some reason it has started to reencode 100% of the video and I cannot see why.
I dont use any of the fancy stuff that this great program has to offer, I just cut the ads and export to mpeg.
Can aybody tell me where I might look to fix this.
Here is my process.
Copy program from DVD Recorder hard drive to DVD
Copy VOBS off DVD to PC hard drive using DVD Shrink with file splitting turned off. (to get 1 LARGE vob)
Import VOB to project.
Cut all the ads. (no transitions; just straight cut)
Export to mpeg
I have done this process many times before with no problems.

I do the same thing with no problem, but I use DVD Decrypter to rip.
Could your DVD Recorder somehow be at fault (i.e. making non-compliant VOBs)?
Have you tried ripping/editing some older DVDs you know are good?
Maybe Shrink is at fault. Have you tried DVD Decrypter?
Have you tried de-muxing with Rejig and muxing with TMPGEnc, and then editing the MPEG file?
Have you tried reinstalling your software?
If these tricks don't point you in the right direction, I hear Womble's support is pretty good. I've never had the need to contact them, though. -
check that the output format is what you want - more than once I've had this happen just because the format isn't what I expected
