Hi all, my problem is the same as Biged670's that one has not been resovled yet, but i have run the file through g-spot and posted a screen shot for added asisstance. I have recieved an AVI file from a relative, this file play fine on my pc, but i now need to convert to MPG 2 and DVD, this i have done lots of times in the past but this file i'm having problems with. When the file is opened in TMPGEnc plus, the field order gets auto judged, this has never happened before with these files, and the in the sorce range the image is broken down into the primary colours, also tilted to the left, and has horizontal lines running across.
I have asked the relative to resend the file just incase it goofed up in transit but got the same results, and like i said earlier it plays fine on my pc.
Any information on how to fix this problem will be most welcome

You've got VBR MP3 audio, which causes all sorts of havoc with TMPGEnc Plus. Extract your audio to WAV using this guide, then follow this guide, converting the WAV file you extracted to AC3 in step 3.
    If in doubt, Google it.

Ok done all that you said, and the audio file converted with no problems, but the video conversion is still the same. Would it help with a screen shot of the encoder in action so you could see what i'm seeing ?

Looks like CBR to me. I can just make out the C and the B.

Well for a start the horizontal res isn't mod 16, not even mod4.

I would suggest updating GSpot. Newer versions give you all kinds of usefull info, like the XviD bitstream version, whether the file uses bframes, GMC, qpel, etc.

Well I don't see a bitstream version which suggests to me that it was encoded using a really old (before 2002/10/17) build of XviD.

I would suggest that you use MPEG4 Modifier to add a tag of "XviD0001". The current XviD decoder should then hopefull handle the non mod16 resolution.

  9. if it decodes fine in Windows Media Player, then there's a DirectX filter capable of properly decoding it. Check your environmental settings in TMPGEnc and make sure DirectShow is @ the top of the priority list. If not, get it up there. Hope this helps.

Will the file open up okay in virtual dub? If so then you can frameserve to tmpgenc.

What's the difference between CBR and VBR? As long as it's mp3...tmpgenc doesn't like it eh?
